Asian Grandma Pants

I’m officially back! Last week I was unofficially back because I’ve been sleeping off my jet lag at home since. My vacation was amazing but going into detail on it will be incredibly boring to both write and read so I’m going to save everyone the trouble and talk about something only slightly more exciting: asian grandma pants.

Now, these glorious, oversized, crazy-printed garments are beautiful to me in all ways. I can’t help but stare in jealously when an old lady is sleeping on a public transit bench sporting these babies. Luckily, they are always available at one’s local thrift shop! Unluckily, they are always far too big for me, much like every piece of clothing ever made.

My solution is usually to frown, put the pants back on its rack, and soothe my never-ending yearning for silly-looking legs. Today, I couldn’t bring myself to pass a particular pair up. There I saw them, sitting amongst other size 12 pants, in all their glory. An all-over print of lions, tigers, and leopards in black, pastel blue, and golden ink – a.k.a. heaven on a twill weave. I decided that moment that I would embark on an adventure I had never crossed before: taking a pair of pants apart and re-designing them completely.

The process wasn’t nearly as epic as I make it sound. It only took me about three hours to draft a pattern using some jeans that fit me well, cut up my new grandma pants, and whip it back into a new pair of skinnies. The only issue is I made the waist a little too tiny, but that just gives me incentive to start my cardio workouts again. I’m starting Insanity next week. Wish me luck!

Oh yeah and I changed my hair again. No surprise here.

OH MY GOSH. YOUR HAIRRRR….I had a pixie cut last year but I grew it out and was really leaning towards cutting it again and so you’ve convinced me! You’re my new official hairinspiration, I must say.

…And it’s funny, I’ve always wanted to buy those pants you see at thrift stores with the pretty/ugly print and skinny-fy them myself. I must try this out! Your feline legs look amazing ;)
