On Vacation

Just a little warning that my blog posts will be either very sparse or completely non-existant for the next three weeks. I’m going on vacation! I’m currently blogging from Taiwan *peace sign.* Ok that was inappropriate. I’m sorry. In my defence, I’m asian too.

In the meantime, here’s a photo I took in my room before I went out two days ago. Smell ya later!

|FAT| 2012 – Day 2

As promised, here’s the final day of |FAT| Fashion & Arts Week, as told by me!!! Before I get into my actual post, here’s a photo of what my hair looks like now:

I am a unicorn. Moving forward…

The last day of |FAT| was an event full of glow-in-the-dark latex, gas masks, pope hats, nuns, and swimming caps. If that doesn’t make any sense to you, don’t fret for I didn’t quite understand it either. One thing I do know is the garments that walked the runway were absolutely fabulous/incredible/super weird in a good way. Here’s a few of my ready-to-wear favourites:

Brankopopovic and Pedram Karimi

I remember being in awe of how cool that first menswear outfit was. I nudged my boyfriend, “that’s the most badass raincoat ever!!!” and he replied with, “it looks like a garment bag,” completely killing my excitement because he was right. I can’t un-see it now. Sad face.

The second and third photo above highlights my absolute favourite dress from the entire event. Pedram Karimi is a god. The front of the dress is kept simple, elegant, and streamline. But then look at the stegosaurus back bump detail things!!! So cool.

Happy V. Andrada, Gardé Del Avante, and Artifice Clothing

The first dress above had these intricately folded origami pieces sporadically attached to it. How do people even come up with this stuff and why aren’t I that creative? The photo in the middle is a swimwear design by Gardé Del Avante that I loved. Please also take note of the sweet jewellery and makeup. Finally, yup. You are not mistaken. That is a latex Kimono. Enough said.

Here’s what I wore blah blah blah not as interesting:

|FAT| 2012 – Day 1

Last week I had the privilege of attending |FAT| Arts & Fashion Week in Toronto, in order to write an article for BlogTO. It was my first time at this event, even though it’s been an annual shindig for the past seven years. Not to mention totally my cup of tea! For those of you who aren’t familiar with |FAT|, it’s an alternative fashion week, incorporating visual arts and performances. With that being said, a lot of the fashions are avant-garde, and the ones that are actually wearable are insanely out-there/some next level shit. Basically, it’s freakin’ awesome.

Unfortunately, I was only able to attend two of the four days due to happenings much less fun and interesting i.e. exam studying. Here’s what I wore, a photo of my date named Spanish Alex, and a set of three incredibly noisy runway shots of cool details from the show, shot from behind an important person’s head. Please take note of the gunmetal Doc Martens.

In a few days I’ll be posting about the final day of |FAT|. I managed to get a lot of great shots that day (this time from the photographer’s pit), plus the designers were drool AND swoon worthy. Yup. You heard me.

Secret Project

Now that this term is coming to a close, Danielle and I have some time to work on Kastor & Pollux. We have an awesome secret project we’re currently working on. It may or may not involve a) sweet bling, b) fun lip colours, c) flowers, and d) an unreasonably beautiful model. You’ll be hearing more about it next week. In the meantime, here’s some photos I took today with a), b), and c), but without the d):

Tank – H&M
Shorts – Marni x H&M
Thigh high socks – Club Monaco
Hat – Ebay
Necklaces – Gifts from my boyfriend
Bracelet – Kastor & Pollux S/S 2012

Quasi Lipstick

The other day I went on a date with Danielle. We had a few Kastor & Pollux related errands to run, and after such hard work, we rewarded ourselves with deep fried mars bars and shopping. It’s always a good time when we’re together (cue audience’s synchronized “aww”)!!! I ended up buying $2 eyeliner at Hot Topic to use as lipstick because I don’t personally believe in spending copious amounts of money on silly lip colours such as blue and black, especially not when I recently purchased an unreasonably overpriced YSL lipstick for unknown reasons. I rarely ever buy makeup, so I’ve definitely been spoiling myself.

In case you were wondering, the eyeliner actually works very well as lipstick! It’s creamy and doesn’t taste bad or anything. The brand is War Paint. And I have no shame admitting this. Here are some pictures of me posing dramatically in front of a softly lit window, sporting my unconventional quasi lipstick. Am I pretty yet? Am I pretty yet? Am I pretty yet?

And here is a photo of Danielle and I glowing under lens flares and sunlight.
